Thinking blogger

So I finally know the story behind the name, Stararah :D And that incredibly fashionable teenager has yet presented me with another award. This time, it is the "Thinking Blogger" award. Thank you Stararah : )

Alright here’s the questions: -

What is the story behind the name of your blog and nickname?

When I was a teenager, I love reading the novels co-authored by
Janet Evanovich and Charlotte Hughes. The novels came in series and the all of the novels’ titles began with Full. Full House, Full Tilt, and Full Speed were some of the titles of the novel series. Since this blog is going to be about clothes and such, I named my blog URL, full-clothes. On top of that, since I am a frugal shopper, I thought, “Come thrifting with me” sounds just right. And my blog nickname, Eleh, is actually my guy’s nickname. So now you know :D

What has been your best, and worst, blogging experience?

I have had an anonymous commenting my blog saying, “this blog is shit”. That happened last year when I first started this blog. I published the comment but sometime later, I decided to not dwell on the negativity and have since deleted it. I don’t think that one should avoid criticism but I guess the reason I deleted it was because I didn’t want to be reminded of it. And here I am bringing it up :D Anyway, I thank all of you who have commented on this blog. You guys have been awesome! Looking back, I pretty much started with zero readers. That changed when Vintage Bunny came along. And the rest as they say is history.

What do you think/want to happen to your blog in 2008?

I’ve always wanted this blog to be all-rounded and not solely based on my outfits shots and purchases. But the truth is; time is always a barrier. That and the fact that I have minimal knowledge about fashion. I could do blog posts about Fashion week and stuffs but I guess I am better off reading about them from other blogs, where the blog writer are much more experienced and qualified than I am. So for now, I will say that I am content with this blog. I’m keeping my fingers cross, hoping that I can post here regularly and to have better locations for my outfits shots :D

I want to specially dedicate this award to my little cousin, Kona. So Yana Kona Banana, you are at it!

Gold and sequins

I’ve only worn the denim leggings once so today I took it out again. This time I paired it with my sleeveless sequined top that I purchased during my last Johor trip. And the strap on them gold pointed pumps is on the verge of snapping but I wore them still. Until it finally dies on me that I will retire them for good :D

Colour me candy

Have you ever watched the comedy, “My Wife and Kids” starring Damon Wayans? If you are an avid viewer, then you would remember that on the show, the wife (Tisha Campbell-Martin) likes to say, “Say what” in a certain accent. Well that was my first response when I found out that Singapore won the bid to host the 2010 Youth Olympics Games. Unbelievable I must say. Anyway, I stayed home today and watched DVDs, until three in the morning, with my mum. The only time I went out was to buy dinner for the whole family. Somehow while I was changing, I decided I wanted to be dressed in lots of colours. And so I did.

p/s: Mag from Chic and Cheap, I'm not sure if Mag is your name but I just wanted to tell you that I often visit your blog. I love your style and I've always wanted to leave you a comment but each time I clicked the Komentarze hyperlink, I'm stuck as to what to do next. I can't neither understand nor read what is being written :D But do keep posting though!

Bejeweled neckline and cartoon prints

I contemplated on getting this dress as I thought it looked messy; note the bejeweled neckline and the colourful cartoon prints. But eventually my mum talked me into buying it saying that I will regret it if I didn’t. She also added saying, “The girls (on the dress) are so cute and they are not only on the front of the dress but at the back as well”. Indeed I agree that the cartoon girls (or ladies, whichever you prefer to call it) are too adorable and having them printed on both sides make it a “must buy”. So the dress came in three colours, and I chose these grey and black checkered prints over the pink and mustard ones. I tried it with my green, and then my turquoise tights but it didn’t look right. Had I have a pair of mustard tights, I would have worn it with this dress. Oh well, I guess my mustard pumps will do. And yes, they were not stolen. I just didn’t look hard enough. Thank you mum for finding them.

On another note,
Fabi’s latest post on Naca had me thinking that some people need to realize that wearing a Miss Selfridge’s dress (and other similar labels) doesn’t necessarily make you stylish. Some seem to worship brands and labels as if they are their Holy Grail of fashion. A note to these people; I have seen fellow bloggers looking completely chic in thrifted clothing. Well, I am definitely not implying that we should completely stop purchasing from Topshop (and etc) and to hit the thrift stores instead. I merely want them to realize that it doesn’t matter if you are wearing a hundred dollars dress or a two dollars dress because people can tell if and when you are trying to hard. Even if you wear a Zara dress, would people know? The tag is on the inside darling. We can’t see where you got it from. Well not unless if we have seen the dress you are wearing on the shop’s mannequin, or that you openly declare to everyone (with a tinge of arrogance), “This is a Zara dress okay”. Chill girl. I don't want your Zara dress. Na-uh.

Music and a cup of tea

It’s been awhile hasn’t it? The past few days have been really hectic so I barely have time to surf the net or take outfit shots. But well I am back, for now at least. Anyway, I am hooked to Mika’s song, Lollipop. It’s edgy and I like the colourful music video and that adorable Lollipop girl. Other than Mika’s, I simply love Kylie Minogue’s song, In my arms. I just can’t get enough of the music video; the song, the clothes and the eye make-up. Who would have thought that pink, blue, green and yellow eye shadow would look darn lovely when worn simultaneously? But most of all, I think this song is a great comeback for Kylie. I can only imagine what breast cancer does to a person. So hats off to her for still continuing her music career.

Bubbly colours

We finally watched p.s I love you today. Despite the low ratings that the newspapers gave, I actually thought the movie was really nice. And I was actually surprise to see James Marsters also known as Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayers. I like him and he’s been missing for awhile. Overall, it was good. Anyway, after seeing so many colourful outfits and backgrounds on Hot chocolate and mint, I was inspired. And I must say that I actually felt different today. In fact, I told my guy that I felt younger. That said as back in my polytechnic days, I was usually in colourful outfits. But lately, I have turned to monochrome so wearing colours today actually made me feel like a teenager again! Colours do make me bubbly.

p/s: This is totally unrelated to fashion :D I cut our date short just so I could watch The Amazing Race Asia finale. Singapore team won The Amazing Race Asia season 2! Among the many reality shows, this is by far the only one that I will watch dutifully. Congratulations Adrian and Collin. Even with Adrian’s disabilities, they won. And of course, Vanessa and Pamela proved that girls are as tough and capable! For Mark and Rovilson, they won a lot during the race and they raced good. Well done for all the teams!

Pink, lacey and tiered

Awhile ago, my guy laughed at me when I told him I was going to buy this pink and lacey skirt. I believe I have mentioned before that ninety-nine percent of the time, I can’t pull off the colour pink. Well so I guess my guy was alarmed at my unusual behaviour. Anyway, the shop was having a clearance sale and though this skirt was hanging loosely on my hips, I got it still. Odd considering that I usually do not buy clothing just because it is cheap or on sale. My guy didn’t like it for he thinks it is; well to put it mildly, ugly. Usually I take into consideration what he thinks of that particular piece of clothing. But this I can’t pass off. And today when I wore it out, I had the last laugh. My guy actually thinks that the skirt wasn’t as ugly anymore. Hah. I told you so.

Excuse the darkness, again.

Scandinavian love

It's no secret that Scandinavian style is loved by many. And that includes yours truly too. It amazes me each time at how they managed to pull off great outfits with such basic pieces and little efforts. Basic tees (plain and stripes), high waist skirts, jazz shoes, floral dresses and oversized cardigans never looked this good. And they certainly are influential for thanks to them, I have been purchasing many oversized tees. Here are two of my most visited Scandinavian blogs;
Lisaplace and Moderniter. And here I am trying to impersonate the Scandinavian style whilst ripping off The Clothes Horse incredible poses :D

Mod printed dress

So yesterday we watched The Mist. Today, we were going between Atonement, Gone Baby Gone and Sweeney Todd. In the end, we chose none of the three and went for 27 dresses instead. That being chosen for I wanted to see the 27 dresses. Well, let’s just say them dresses are not what I had imagined. The movie did have some hilarious bits which I laughed really hard at. And like all love stories, this movie had a happy ending. Predictable some might say. Anyway, I seriously think someone stole my thrifted mustard heels. I had wanted to wear it with this dress but I couldn’t find it. Oh well, this nude heels will be it than.

The light was flickering, hence the darkness.

Blue and green

*
I actually had a bow on my hair which my guy didn’t like for he thinks it’s too big. He can smirk and protest all he wants but I still wore it. Sadly it isn’t in this outfit shot for I removed it while tying my hair and talking to my guy. Maybe I can’t multi task. Or maybe my guy was distracting me so I won’t put it on again. Nice going you sneaky man. Now I am going to buy more bows just so I can irritate you further. Anyway, we watched The Mist today and I like most things about the movie except the ending. Personally, I wouldn’t have done what he did. Apart from the movie, I bought some fabric which I think would look nice as a skirt. I can’t wait to get it tailored and hopefully the tailor won’t mess up the design. How jealous I am of people who can sew. Now maybe I could take up sewing lessons but I think my mum would fall off the chair if it really happens; seeing that it's going to come out of her daughter’s mouth, who was once a tomboy.

I have two of this dress.

Checkered, sequins and patent

Days of diarrhoea has made me all dehydrated and glum. All those mad dashes to the toilet at wee hours of morning have seriously disrupted my sleep. I had wanted to go out but girlfriend is sick and my guy had to work this weekend. Anyway, I wore this shirt twice in a row. Yesterday I paired it with an army green skirt which I hoist up real high with the help of an orange patent belt. Today I felt less adventurous so I wore it with my thrifted Guess denim shorts instead. I also added the pearls and pinned bows on each side of my cardigan cuffs. To add some colours, I wore my green patent wedges.

Um. I wasn't scrapping my teeth.
